Sunlight streams in, illuminating the charms of this Craftsman home

A little slice of sweetness — that is something we all aspire to, especially in the haven we call home. It's hard to define such a thing, but lets try. This 1916 Seattle Craftsman is in full bloom, just like the front yard, with updates that make it a soothing spot to dwell but that evoke the best of its design.
Yes, it's true, that porch perfectly fits the home. The subtle seating makes the welcoming statement: Come up, slide into a chair and let go of the day's issues. But we have to admit, we are curious about what's behind that big beautiful door: three bedrooms, one bathroom, and a couple of surprises. Off we go!

Do we see hardwood floors and a set of French doors in the main area? Show us more.
Light infuses the main living area, where guests can leisurely chat and joke and be enveloped by the cozy warmth of the fireplace. The mix of wood features and light makes it a place you want to linger. Now we must ask: What's behind the French doors?
Oh, that looks like a handsome office, with enough room for work, someone to visit (or be interviewed), and cabinetry to hold as many supplies — hello, minibar — as one needs. It is a swank addition to the main room whether tossing a party or simply getting down to business.
We have a confession to make: We see other uses for this room — thanks, little chandelier. A library off the main room would be handy, with a wall of shelving and some oh-so-comfy seating. Or does anyone fancy a tearoom? Change the paint and drapes, add some shabby chic white chairs and tables, and a tea cart or two, and away you go. If we get really bold, mix them together, and you get a spot for a reading club get-together. Feeling a bit thirsty?
The dining room's traditional atmosphere delivers what today's owner needs: room to drink, eat, chat, admire the view and communicate with the chef. Just think what it must feel like at twilight, stars twinkling, and candles glowing too. The kitchen boasts a big sink, spiffy lighting and good storage, plus a breakfast nook with a view.
Subtlety is the word in the main bedroom, providing good light and enough room so you feel peaceful but not squeezed in. Let the relaxation process commence.
For the guests, there's a lovely less-is-more philosophy to the room, while still providing the comforts that make them know they are welcome. There's more to see!
Did we mention there's a partially finished basement? We like the idea of making this a screening room since the windows are compact. Plus, there is space for memorabilia or a personal film collection. And if you have extra guests we're sure they wouldn't mind bunking down here. It does make one feel a bit dramatic, right? If you get really adventurous, put on a play or show!
No graceful home is complete without a backyard that beckons. Here we get a deck, built-in seating, and plenty of room for a barbecue and tables to relish spring and summertime feasts.
