You'd never know by looking at the home now, but this 1883 farmhouse was until recently ready for the wrecking ball. Its foundation was rotted, the roof leaked and broken windows were boarded up. Inside, graffiti artists had vandalized the walls and the original wood floors were scuffed and dirty.
Now, with a new roof, lots of new paint and some careful restoration, the home looks gorgeous.
The updated kitchen actually contains old cabinets that existed in a second, now-demolished kitchen on the home's second floor. Though out-of-date, the upstairs cabinets were structurally sound. So the team stripped and stained them and moved them downstairs. Once they removed old linoleum, the kitchen's original pine subfloors were refinished to beautiful effect.

In the dining room, the team refinished the floors and raised the ceiling by more than a foot to create a sense of spaciousness.
The kitchen isn't the only place where old pieces were reused. Another set of cabinets from a former butler's pantry were transformed into a vanity for the upstairs bathroom.
The master bedroom relies on neutral paint and simple decor that complement the original hardwood floors.
A small guest room seems bigger than it is thanks to light-colored walls and bedding.
The team managed to salvage the master bath's claw foot tub. They also redid the floors and created a mismatched look by collecting pieces of original wood from throughout the house.
