Take a look through this country cottage farmhouse in the Deep South

Layla Palmer and her husband knew exactly what they wanted when they purchased this lakefront home in the deep South.  And they were patient, very patient. In fact, the home sat vacant, in foreclosure, for 7 years before they purchased it.  But when the price fell into their range, they snapped it up and moved.
On her noteworthy blog, The Lettered Cottage, Layla has documented the renewal of this 2 bedroom/2.5 bath cottage. While her self-professed style has more of a cottage feel to it, there are plenty of elements that reference that rustic farmhouse aesthetic.  As you walk from room to room you will discover a little shiplap, some reclaimed wood, and hits of industrial lighting.

Layla's eclectic combination of styles makes the Lettered Cottage worthy of a second, or third, look.
The entrance features a wall of shiplap accented by a soft green curio cabinet filled with knickknacks and dishware.
A set of woven bar stools pop against the blue-gray kitchen island.
The two-tiered island is accented by a vintage corbels on the bar area.
Seaside pics and rustic shelving create a beautiful gallery wall in the living room.
Rustic wood shutters accent the upper windows while still allowing light to fill the room.
This graphic, star-patterned bedspread draws the eye to the bedroom's natural focal point, the comfortable, cushioned bed.

Layla has named this tiny bathroom her "bird bath".  The wallpapered ceiling creates the illusion of a large and spacious room.
