The Historic Moore-Crutchfield Place Has Two Amazing Farmhouses

Established as a farmstead in 1786, the Moore-Crutchfield Place is a historic site that features not one but two homes that are on the National Historic Register. This 77-acre property is home to gorgeous country houses and outbuildings, picturesque woodland, and no less than two tranquil private ponds.
Located in Siloam, Georgia, this homestead is within easy traveling distance of Atlanta, Augusta, and Athens, while still maintaining all the privacy one could hope for from a secluded, charming farmstead. Both homes on the property have been restored and updated by restoration architect Lane Greene.

The first of the homes on the property, the Plantation Plain Home, was built in 1841. While it has been restored in order to preserve functionality and ease of modern living, careful attention has been paid to maintain its rich historical character.
The main home features an expansive front porch that positively begs to be furnished with rocking chairs in order for one to sit back, relax, and enjoy a sweet southern lifestyle.
The main home's wide center hall is incredibly inviting, with its ample space to sit down and unwind. Hardwood floors and wall paneling give the room tremendous warmth, while hand-picked antiques such as a painted grandfather clock finish off the room's unique style.
This country home's living room is styled immaculately in order to reflect the historic nature of the house. A fireplace takes center stage in this room, ensuring that the room will stay warm and toasty even in the coldest winter months.
The formal dining room in the main house of the Moore-Crutchfield Place is a testament to the home's historic past, with rich colors and warm hardwood finishes. A gleaming chandelier light fixture finishes this overall effect.
Perhaps the most unique room in this house is the absolutely beautiful kitchen. Hardwood touches abound here, from the hand-planed horizontal heart pine board flooring featured throughout the home to the exposed hardwood beams and warm wooden cabinetry. The absolutely incredible brick hearth has been updated to house modern appliances such as an oven and storage space for heirlooms and extra serving ware. Finally, a sweet window seat in the corner provides a perfect spot to sip a cup of coffee while enjoying the view.
A light-filled sitting room decorated in tones of cream and slate blue is a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of tea or a good book. An antique clock and loveseat finish off this vintage-country style.
The master bedroom within the Plantation Plain Home is spacious room that is styled in a manner that hearkens back to a simpler, more elegant time. A four poster bed with a sweet lace canopy fits perfectly with the heart pine flooring throughout the room.
The second home on the Moore-Crutchfield Place property is the log home, built circa 1810. This structure was artfully crafted from hand hewn logs, with intricate dovetail notching. The home itself is one room, with a loft above that can be used as a sleeping area. One of the highlights of this home is its enormous fireplace that can be used to warm the entire home on winter nights.
