Welcome to green acres and modern farmhouse design in Ontario

Just over an hour's drive from Toronto lies the sleepy township of Creemore. It only wakes up on the weekends when busy residents from Toronto come for antique shopping and slow-paced country life. So Creemore's residents are no strangers to introducing modern fashions to their rural ways. A name in Creemore architecture, Ed Leimgardt Contracting worked on turning this rustic old farm into a modern family dwelling. And what a challenge it was!
From the looks of it, this century-old barn needs some TLC. Wouldn't you be surprised to know that it's actually a reconstruction -- a barn-style, two-car garage.

The family's living quarters connects to the garage and branches out from the old house. This picture shows the three-pronged design scheme that connects all the elements: old wood, brick, and sturdy, white walls.
The low-beamed ceiling and the tight furniture arrangements make you feel like you're in a small log cabin.
Upstairs isn't much different, but the vaulted ceilings and pristine walls open up more breathing room. This is a perfect little nook for curling up with a magazine.
A telescope poses by the large windows, waiting for a starry night. Above it, salvaged wooden framing creates a decorative canopy over the entire bedroom.
Even the bathrooms hold to the theme of white and wood.
This smaller powder room, however, is quite a surprise! It's hidden behind a reclaimed wood door, so you might excpect an animal stall instead of something so pristine.
Basck outside, the barn-red window trim and matching Adirondack chair make a great statement to old farmhouse style.
